Tanya joined the Bexar County Public Defender’s Office in January 2020. She currently is assigned to the family violence mental health unit. Originally from California, Tanya moved to Texas in August of 2018 to work as a state public defender for the Office of Capital and Forensic Writs – the Texas state agency tasked with representing the men and women on Texas’ death row in their post-conviction state habeas proceedings. She graduated from the University of San Francisco School of Law in 2016. Tanya is passionate about zealous indigent defense and access to justice for ALL. She is committed to advocating for vulnerable populations and abolishing the death penalty in Texas.
