Dear Friends and Neighbors,
The very basis of the United States is founded on the belief that the American citizen has the right to govern themselves. This privilege is exercised through voting. Unfortunately, today, many Americans see voting as an inconsequential and mundane task. However, the history of this right is one that is steeped in pride, patriotism, and crucial victories.
On December 15, 1788, the first vote in the United States was cast. This election went on to name General George Washington as President. February 3, 1870, nearly 100 years later, after generations of anguish and injustice, the 15th amendment was ratified, giving African American men the right to vote. On August 18, 1920 women of all color were granted their voice when the 19th amendment was signed into law.
Friends, it is time to exercise our esteemed right. It is time to remember what our forefathers fought and died for. It is time to vote.
Early voting begins Monday, October 24, 2016 and ends Friday, November 4, 2016. Election Day is November 8, 2016. This is your chance to decide your government. Do not give up your voice! Vote!
