A Bexar County Judge sentenced a San Antonio man to 18 years in prison for a 2020 hit and run accident that left a motorcyclist dead.

Christopher Norton, 32, pled guilty in July to a charge of failure to stop and render aid resulting in death. Evidence showed that on Nov. 9, 2020, Norton was driving an SUV that hit a motorcycle at the intersection of O’Connor Road and Larkdale Drive. Norton drove home leaving the motorcyclist, Phillip Snow, 48, to die from his injuries. Norton confessed to his mother, but said a brick caused the damage to the vehicle. Investigators determined the damage to the vehicle matched the damage to Snow’s motorcycle.

In exchange for Norton’s guilty plea to this charge and an unrelated second-degree charge of assault on a family member, Judge Michael Mery sentenced Norton to 18 years in prison for each charge to run concurrently.

“Those who love Mr. Snow had to wait nearly two years to hear this defendant accept responsibility for his actions. Their pain was still fresh during today’s sentencing. With this chapter behind them, I hope everyone who loved Mr. Snow can focus on celebrating him without thinking about this defendant again,” said Bexar County District Attorney Joe Gonzales.

Assistant District Attorney Brandon Ramsey of the Felony Trial Division prosecuted this case in the 144th District Court. The San Antonio Police Department investigated the crime.
