Man indicted for fatal Christmas 2021 shooting

This week, Bexar County Grand Juries handed down 257 felony indictments.

Mason Lubitz is charged with murder. The indictment alleges that on Dec. 25, 2021, Lubitz intentionally and knowingly caused the death of Trevor James Beeman by shooting Beeman with a deadly weapon (firearm). The Criminal Trial Division is prosecuting this case in the 399th District Court. Murder is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000

Jose Moreno is charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon causing serious bodily injury. The first count of the indictment alleges that on Feb. 3, 2022, Moreno intentionally, knowingly and recklessly caused serious bodily injury to Crystal Martinez by striking Martinez with a deadly weapon (motor vehicle), that in the manner of its use and intended use was capable of causing death and serious bodily injury and Martinez was a person with whom Moreno has or has had a dating relationship. The second count of the indictment alleges that on Feb. 3, 2022, Moreno used and exhibited a deadly weapon (motor vehicle) that in the manner of its use and intended use was capable of causing death and serious bodily injury, and that Moreno intentionally and knowingly threatened imminent bodily injury to Joe Angel Moreno by driving said deadly weapon at and in the direction of Joe Angel Moreno. The Family Violence Division is prosecuting this case in the 290th District Court. Aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. A person charged by indictment is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury or a judge. Because these and potentially other cases are either pending or may be under investigation, we can make no further comment on them.

Copies of indictments may be requested from the Bexar County District Clerk. Information on court settings can be found by searching the case online or directly from the court.
