Former SA Park Police officer indicted on felony charge

A former San Antonio Park Police officer is charged with tampering with a governmental record.

A Bexar County Grand Jury returned the indictment on Jan. 6, 2022. It alleges that on Jan. 8, 2020, David Rene Garcia (SID: 822053) did, with intent to defraud and harm another, namely: Bexar County Court at Law No. 14 and the Bexar County Adult Probation Department, knowingly make a false alteration of a governmental record, to-wit: an application for probation/deferred adjudication, said false alteration of being striking through a condition of probation.

Garcia was booked on the new charge Monday and posted a $5,000 bond. This case is being prosecuted by the Public Integrity and Cyber Crime Division in the 437th District Court. Tampering with a governmental record is a state jail felony punishable by 180 days to two years in jail and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. A person charged by indictment is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury or a judge. Because these and potentially other cases are either pending or may be under investigation, we can make no further comment on them.

Copies of indictments may be requested from the Bexar County District Clerk. Information on court settings can be found by searching the case online or directly from the court.
