Bexar County Grand Jury indicts man for March 2021 family violence-related murder

This week, Bexar County Grand Juries handed down 203 felony indictments.

Jarren Diego Garcia is charged with murder. The indictment alleges that on March 5, 2021, Garcia intentionally and knowingly caused the death of Mark Ramos by shooting Ramos with a deadly weapon (firearm). This case is being prosecuted by the Family Violence Division in the 175th District Court. Murder is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

Daniel McCloud is charged in two separate indictments with aggravated assault against a public servant. The first count of the indictments alleges that on Jan. 30, 2021, McCloud used and exhibited a deadly weapon (firearm) and intentionally and knowingly threatened imminent bodily injury to Bexar County Sheriff’s Office Deputy George Herrera and Deputy David Solis by pointing said deadly weapon at and in the direction of the deputies and that McCloud knew the deputies were discharging their official duties as public servants, and in retaliation and on account of the deputies’ exercise of official power and performance of an official duty as a public servant. The second count of the indictments allege that on the same date McCloud used and exhibited a deadly weapon (motor vehicle) that in the manner of its use and intended use was capable of causing death and serious bodily injury and that McCloud intentionally and knowingly threatened imminent bodily injury to Deputies Herrera and Solis by driving said weapon at and in the direction of the deputies. These cases are being prosecuted by the Criminal Trial Division in the 399th District Court. Aggravated assault against a public servant is a first degree felony punishable by 5 to 99 years or life in prison and a possible fine of up to $10,000.

An indictment is not a finding of guilt. A person charged by indictment is presumed innocent until found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt by a jury or a judge. Because this case is pending, we can make no further comment on it.

Copies of indictments may be requested from the Bexar County District Clerk. Information on court settings can be found by searching the case online or directly from the court.
