FRIDAY, MARCH 31ST

THE MASK YOU LIVE IN

The Rape Crisis Center invites you to a film screening and panel discussion of “The Mask You Live In,” regarding the impact of society's views of masculinity. Arrive early for pizza at 5:00 pm; 6:00 pm – film; and 7:30 pm for panel discussion. This event is free and open to the community. UTSA Downtown, Aula Canaria, Buena Vista Building

MONDAY, APRIL 3RD 

KICK-OFF PRESS CONFERENCE

Bexar County and City Officials will announce the start of National Crime Victims’ Rights Week in Bexar County. The event will begin at 10:00 am on the north side of the old Bexar County Courthouse, 100 Dolorosa by the fountain.

VICTIM CALL-IN HOTLINE
Victims may call KSAT-TV from 12:00 noon to 7:00 p.m. for information concerning the criminal justice system and referrals for victim services. Watch KSAT for the call-in phone number.

IN THE CITY FOR GOOD – FAITH-BASED INITIATIVE
Leaders from among San Antonio’s faith community, as well as faith-based organizations and agencies coming together to explore, discern and co-create what it means to take initiative as a community of faith for the good of all in Our City. This event is from 9:00 am – 12:00 noon at the Whitley Conference Center, Oblate School of Theology, 285 Oblate Drive. This event is free, but seating is limited. TUESDAY, APRIL 4TH

PROCLAMATION OF NATIONAL CRIME VICTIMS’ RIGHTS WEEK BY BEXAR COUNTY COMMISSIONERS COURT
The public, crime victims and victim service organizations are invited to attend Commissioners Court meeting during which National Crime Victims’ Rights Week will be proclaimed. The proclamation will be held in the Bexar County Courthouse, Commissioners Courtroom, 2nd Floor at 10:00 a.m.

SPECIAL CHILDREN’S EVENT
In an effort to provide children who have faced great adversity an opportunity to enjoy a care-free evening of fun and excitement, the Bexar County Family Justice Center Foundation is sponsoring a Children’s Event to be held at Morgan’s Wonderland from 5pm-7pm. Partnering agencies include the Bexar County Criminal District Attorney’s Office, the Bexar County Sheriff’s Office, Guardians of the Children San Antonio, and Allstate to name a few. Closed Event. CELEBRATION OF LIFE
Mothers Against Drunk Driving is sponsoring a Celebration of Life in honor of those lost or impacted by drunk driving, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the San Antonio Area Foundation, located at 303 Pearl Parkway, Suite 114. THE BLUE BREAKFAST – RAISING AWARENESS OF THE ISSUE OF CHILD ABUSE
SJRC Texas will host a symposium on the issue of child abuse. The Blue Breakfast is from 9:00 am – 10:30 am, at the San Antonio Area Foundation, located at 303 Pearl Parkway, Suite 114. THURSDAY, APRIL 6TH 

VICTIMS’ TRIBUTE
The public, crime victims and victim service organizations are invited to attend a special service dedicated to victims of crime which will include a memorial wreath blessing and laying ceremony and lighting of our victims’ flame, and dove release. The event will be held at the Bexar County Courthouse, located at 100 Dolorosa, on the plaza side at the fountain, from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon.

CHILDSAFE –“CARDBOARD KIDS” CAMPAIGN
Now in its fourth year, ChildSafe has distributed over 70,000 Cardboard Kids into the community to heighten awareness, intervention and prevention of child abuse and neglect during National Child Abuse Prevention Month. Companies, churches, schools, civic groups, families and individuals are all participating. People are asked to DISPLAY their Cardboard Kids in a special public place on Thursday, April 6, which is community-wide Reveal Day. Take a picture of your Cardboard Kid or another you see and share the location, and spread the word through social media using #cardboardkidsSA. Be a part of the conversation by following ChildSafe on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. More at www.cardboardkidsSA.com.

SATURDAY, APRIL 8TH
CHILDREN’S EVENTS
We will focus on our efforts to combat child abuse in our community by celebrating the children located in various shelters in Bexar County. Special events for The Children’s Shelter; St. PJ’s Children’s Home; Seton Home; and the Battered Women’s Shelter will be held. For more information please contact Cyndi Jahn at (210) 335-2733.

THURSDAY, APRIL 13TH
TAKE BACK THE NIGHT
The Rape Crisis Center celebrates a community against sexual violence at their annual Take Back the Night event. This year’s family-friendly event will include a community resource fair, art activities, poets and performers, and a candlelight vigil. This outdoor event will bring community members together to recognize the struggle and strength of those affected by sexual violence and to stand in solidarity to continue our work towards a safer and healthier community. The event will run from 7 – 9:00 pm at th Martinez Street Women’s Center, 801 N. Olive (Lockwood/Dignowity Park) For more information contact the Rape Crisis Center at (210) 521-7273.

THURSDAY, APRIL 20TH
PREVENTION LOTERIA NIGHT
The Rape Crisis Center combines the traditional loteria game and adds a sexual violence prevention twist. Enjoy music and poets in between rounds of loteria. Bang Bang Bar, 119 El Mio Drive, beginning at 7:30 pm. Free entry. Prizes for winners. 21+

SATURDAY, APRIL 22ND
NO CHILD DESERVES TO LIVE IN FEAR!
BACA – San Antonio, Bikers Against Child Abuse, will be hosting their annual pancake breakfast at Applebee's located at 97 NE Interstate 410 Loop, San Antonio, TX 78216. KIDS’ DAY IN THE PARK
KLRN and the San Antonio Association for the Education of Young Children will celebrate the Week of the Young Child during Child Abuse Prevention Month. This event is from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm in Rosedale Park, located at 340 Dartmouth. This event is free and open to the public.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 26TH
NATIONAL DENIM DAY 2017 & MAKE A STATEMENT: THERE IS NEVER AN EXCUSE FOR RAPE!
In observance of Sexual Assault Awareness & Prevention Month each April, The Rape Crisis Center asks businesses, agencies and individuals to wear Denim in support of sexual assault survivors and to raise awareness about sexual assault misconceptions. Denim Day is an excellent opportunity to be proactive and visibly engaged in creating a community of safe and peaceful relationships. For more information go to www.denimdayusa.org.

BEXAR COUNTY FAMILY JUSTICE CENTER FOUNDATION FUNDRAISER
Big Grizz Barbecue is sponsoring a plate sale, to include brisket, sausage, rice, beans, pico de gallo, tortillas and a drink, in support of the Bexar County Family Justice Center Foundation. All proceeds will benefit the Bexar County Family Justice Center to support its mission of assisting victims of domestic violence in their journey from survivor to thriver. The plate sale will be held in the parking lot of the old Federal Reserve Building, 126 E Nueva, San Antonio, Texas 78204. $10 donation.
