About Commissioner Trish DeBerry

Trish has a hands-on work ethic and prefers to get down in the trenches for clients to create aggressive campaigns that influence public perception and get results — regardless of the client’s industry and market.

After a decade as a reporter, anchor, and producer at KENS-TV, Trish launched a career in public relations as a founding partner of Guerra DeBerry Coody, and in 2012 started her own agency, The DeBerry Group, specializing in public relations, public affairs, marketing, and social media.

Negotiating clients through divisive community issues is Trish’s forte.

She has helped position San Antonio Water System as a national leader in water sustainability and has worked for years with the H-E-B Grocery Company on crisis management and community outreach.  More recently, Trish has assisted The Charles Butt Foundation with public education initiatives across the state in support of teachers and administrators. Another long-term client, Mission Pharmacal, tapped Trish to help grow a small, regional diaper ointment brand into a nationally recognized product available in Walgreens and other chains.

Trish also leads a marketing and public relations team that helped guide CST Brands during its spinoff from Valero to establish itself as a Fortune 500 Company with a bold strategic vision for the future.

Always interested in fostering San Antonio’s future, Trish joined the St. Mary’s University staff as an Adjunct Professor where she teaches Intro to Public Relations.

Outside of work, Trish commits her time and talents by serving on the boards of the Alamo Heights ISD Foundation and Centro San Antonio.

Trish has been named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year and has won the NEISD Outstanding Alumni Award and the National Association of Women Business Owners Entrepreneurial Spirit Award. She has two children, Maddie and Scott.
