Bexar Fire Shield

Welcome to the Bexar FireSHIELD Information Sharing Program

The Bexar FireSHIELD program allows the Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office and Office of Emergency Management to communicate between our regional fire service and public safety partners. The purpose of this program is to strengthen sharing of information and intelligence relating to threats and hazards in our community that may pose a risk to firefighter/officer safety.

Program Goals

  • to provide our network with situational awareness of significant events, and
  • to facilitate information sharing between our agencies.

Program Terms

The Bexar County Fire Marshal’s Office will periodically release information to FireSHIELD members relating to responder safety or public safety awareness. Remember, this information is being shared at the For Official Use Only or FOUO level, and may be shared freely with other public safety personnel, however, it should not be distributed to the general public or media without prior written approval from the Originating Agency.

Enrollment

Membership is open to any member of a fire department or public safety agency in our region with supervisory or command level responsibilities. If you meet the eligibility criteria fill out the form to sign up for registration. Only official agency e-mail addresses will be accepted.

Information Sharing

Bexar FireSHIELD members may submit information to Bexar FireSHIELD at bexarfireshield@bexar.org, once received we'll distribute it to the wider information sharing network. We will credit the originating agency on any such information. We would like this two-way communication platform!

Bexar FireShield is proud to be a part of the larger Global SHIELD Network. The concept of the SHIELD Network was originated by the New York City Police department, in order to facilitate the timely exchange of information between public safety partners and other relevant public and private sector stakeholders. Since then many other law enforcement agencies across the world have joined in to make up the Global SHIELD Network, of which we are very proud to be a part!
