The Bexar County Emergency Services District No. 9 (ESD #9) was created and will be operated under the provisions of Article III, Section 48‐e of the Texas Constitution and Chapter 775 of the Texas Health and Safety Code.
Texas Health and Safety Code Section 775.011 allows the general public to petition the Commissioners Court of a County to form an Emergency Services District for the purpose of providing life safety and property conservation through fire suppression and prevention, first responder emergency medical services and other emergency services.
The Bexar County Commissioners Court approved and signed the Order of the Bexar County Commissioners Court for the Creation of Emergency Services District #9 on December 7, 2021.

ESD #9 Board
The five (5) member board of ESD #9 Commissioners are appointed by the Bexar County Commissioners Court. The board is entitled to receive compensation pursuant to the Texas Health and Safety Code Section 775.038(a)(b)(c) and 49.060 of the Water Code for their time and commitment to their community not to exceed an annual limit of $7,200.
Currently, the ESD #9 Board consist of four (4) board members that were appointed by the Bexar County Commissioners Court on January 11, 2022.
