Specialty Courts
The Bexar County Criminal District Attorney's Office believes that specialty court programs are a vital part of restorative justice in Bexar County. These courts provide second chances by focusing on changing the outcome of a person’s life by creating goals and providing support and resources to participants. These courts focus on the participant’s underlying issues (such as mental health, addiction, prior sexual abuse, and other social issues) and work to keep participants out of jail, when possible.
Specialty Courts provide access to resources such as drug rehabilitation, counseling services, housing assistance, ministry, healthcare, and job training. These services allow participants to rebuild their lives and become better parents, family members, friends, and community members.
To learn more about the services offered in Specialty Courts, read the 2021 Bexar County Specialty Courts Coalition Resource Guide.
