About Medina County
Medina County is named for the Medina River that flows through it, and is home to the Medina Dam ,the fourth largest at its completion in 1913, which created Medina Lake.
As of the 2014 census, its population was 47,894. Hondo, the county's seat and largest city, has a population of 9,080. The area is well known for its excellent fishing and hunting areas.
Medina County is part of the San Antonio Metropolitan Statistical Area.
