The Bexar County Small Business & Entrepreneurship Department is dedicated to assisting entrepreneurs; Small, Minority, or Women-owned Businesses (SMWBE); Disadvantaged Business Enterprises (DBE); and Historically Underutilized Businesses (HUB). Our department is data-driven and results-based. The studies and information we obtain will be reported here.

Disparity & Availability Study
In April 2010, Bexar County engaged Mason Tillman Associates to conduct a Disparity and Availability Study. The study was anticipated to take 14 months. Data collection and analysis was completed in July 2011. A draft report was delivered to County staff for analysis and review on November 2011.

AABE Survey
The African-American Business Enterprise (AABE) Survey was performed by the University of Texas at San Antonio (UTSA) Center for Community and Business Research in coordination with the Bexar County Small Business & Entrepreneurship Department SMWBE Program in 2016 in an effort to identify African-American Businesses and the challenges they face when doing business with Bexar County and other government agencies.

The SBED Stakeholder Survey is designed to capture information about Bexar County business owners, their businesses, and their goals so that we may organize our resources and efforts to better serve the small business environment of Bexar County.
