Highlights

  • All domestic dogs and cats are required to have up to date rabies vaccinations.
    • If your animal does not have a current rabies vaccination, it is a $500 fine.
  • All dogs must be leashed when off property. Dogs are not allowed to roam without restraint.
    • If your animal is loose, it is a class C misdemeanor with a maximum fine of $500.
  • It is unlawful to conduct roadside sales.
  • It is unlawful to conceal, sell, giveaway, or otherwise dispose of an animal that has bitten or scratched another animal or human until the Local Rabies Control Authority (LRCA) has released it.
  • If an animal has bitten, scratched, or broken the skin of a human, it must be quarantined for ten (10) days after the incident to check for rabies.
