Bexar Heritage is a community-driven approach and set of programs that identifies unique natural, cultural and historical heritage and values of Bexar County, Texas. The program develops tools to conserve and be good stewards of these resources and maximize the economic benefits of them, through public-private partnerships.

Historic Bexar County

Bexar County Historical Commission
Each County in the State has a Commission, whose members are appointed by Commissioners Court. The County Historical Commission plays a significant role in identifying and managing historic resources countywide, and serves as a clearinghouse for official historic markers sanctioned by Texas Historical Commission. More information on the Bexar County Historical Commission can be found by visiting the Bexar County Historical Commission website.
The Founders Monument is located in front of the historic Bexar County Courthouse. The figures in this monument, created by Laredo artist Armando Hinojosa, represent the four founding communities of San Antonio - American Indians, Franciscan friars, Presidio soldiers, and Canary Islanders.
Bexar County Parks provide a place for children and adults to connect with nature through outdoor recreation, athletic and physical activities. In the years to come, Bexar County Parks is confident it will continue to be a partner with the community in creating memories for our current and future generations.

Bexar County (Texas), through its Heritage & Parks and Information Technology (GIS Team) Departments, partnered with the The University of Texas San Antonio's History Department and Center for Archaeological Research (CAR) to produce a series of web mapping applications celebrating the 300th Anniversary of Béjar to better acquaint the public with the community's long and rich history through an interactive mapping interface known as Story Maps.
